Early Arts North East was established in 2003 with support from the Arts Council North East as the regional agency for the arts and foundation stage learning (birth to 6 years).
We are developing a range of services for professionals, organisations and artists working within Early Years settings in the Northern Region, to include Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Durham and Tees Valley.
These include
- Consultancy, project work, training and professional development for artists and pre-school services working with pre-school children.
- Support and advice to artists, pre-school services and other agencies and individuals working with pre-school children.
- The collation and dissemination of information regarding arts and early years work, policy and projects.
- A database of artists and arts organizations with experience and specialist knowledge of working with pre-school children.
- Research around current practice within arts and foundation stage learning in the Northern Region.
Our focus is to develop the role of the, artist as enabler, and enable collaborative artist educator partnerships within early years services. We support work which recognizes children as communicators, explorers, theory makers, and artists in their own right, and seeks to develop reflective and creative learning environments.
